After learning of the invention of wire lobster traps
successfully being used in New England back in the early 1970's,
Owners ( Louie Vacon, Edward Vacon, John Vacon and Bill Reeves )
decided to try introducing wire traps to the local
Lobster fishing industry here in South West Nova Scotia.
Early attempts to interest fishermen into trying
the new style wire traps were met with a lot of skepticism.
It took many years of persistence from us to convince many fishermen that
"Wire was the future".
Now it's many many years later and not only have
others followed us into the trap building business,
we have also won over the skeptics.
You would be hard pressed to find anything other
than wire traps being used in the
South West Nova Scotia Lobster Industry today.
V&R Traps is still a family owned business
operated by Chris & Judy Bishara and Louie Vacon Jr.
and it is still operated with the same values that QUALITY COUNTS!
